Getting straight to the PowerPoint Slide Master

Social Zesh PowerPoint Slide Master

Having working in the conference industry for many years we’re seen our fair share of PowerPoint presentations. Both good and bad! Being a member of Social Zesh member for a while now it made sense for us to help Martin Reynolds come up with a functional PowerPoint Slide Master. As part of our project to edit and refine the existing back catalogue of Social Zesh social media training videos it was easy for us to see how a structured PowerPoint Slide Master could improve Martins continuity in presentations.

Let the Slide Master take the stain

PowerPoint as really change for the last couple of decades and doesn’t have the what can only be described as “over the top” effects of a certain presentation platform we could mention. But a few of the updates have really made PowerPoint the go to tool for presentations. The slide master setup will allow you to configure how layouts will function to compliment your brand and ease of  slide production. We used this to great effect with the Social Zesh template with crucial elements built it for Laptop and mobile devices so Martin could simple click the add media button and screen shots will sit neatly on the slide. No more jumping around the screen.

As the saying goes “Size Matters”

As we live in a UHD world these days the first thing we do is create a slide size to suite a 4K resolution so if a slide based edit is required there will be no upscaling going on. Font sizes are all set for headings, body text and other text elements. Placement of text on slides can make or break a presentation. There’s nothing worse than seeing headers jumping around the screen and text sizes changing to cram more copy in.

KISS  (Keep it simple stupid) is a good rule of thumb. No one did it better than Apple founder Steve Jobs in his Mac World presentations. Simple clean backdrop with the minimalist amount of text or even no text at all so the focus was always on him.

1st Conference Production of 2012 in the bag…

Cooper Lomaz Awards 2012

Conference Production

January 12th we had our first conference of the year. This was for a new client so we pulled out all the stops to make their first conference with us go with a bang. Going with an Olympic theme for the day winners of their company awards didn’t come first, second and Third but Gold, Silver and Bronze.

On the day we worked with the guys from CEG productions with them supplying the set and AV equipment. They dress the room with LED par cans and bars casting company colours thru glass walls. We cut company logos and the awards logo we had designed from vinyl and applied it to the set flats which helped tie the presenters stage to the rest of the room.

We took the slides, design layout and PowerPoint presentation style from the company norm and created a clean slide-deck. During the rehearsals we made a few fine tunes and we were ready to go…

Delegates entered the room to a looping video of all the team members… The conference production started with a video overview of the past year including milestones and company records broken over the last 12 months. Each presenter went through their sequence of slides with a break for a meal. With everyone’s glasses charged we went on to the awards apart of the evening… The event finished on time with great feedback from both client and delegates alike… only one twist to the evening, we’re awaiting a visit from local police regarding a murder that took place a short distance from the conference venue… Its always handy to be in a room full of people all night…

Waste Awards 2009

Conference Norfolk Waste Awards 2009

Norfolk County Council had us racking up the miles videoing winners clips for the their Waste Awards 2009. Heading all over Norfolk we en-counted Schools, business, individuals, even the Royal Air Force.

Watchout Show for Fusion in the Forum Trust

Then it was on the the show content, we created a massive animated video wall for the meet and great area in the Forum Trust Fusion. 3D renders of the Awards and their nominees set the scene for the coming event.

PowerPoint for the Awards

Once we had all the clips edited together and approved by all involved it was time to build the PowerPoint presentation to stitch it all together. Using the theme from the Fusion welcome area all show used the 3D award elements to introduce each category with each of the nominees images and titles building up to allow for their recognition of their achievement of being a finalist. Then once Carol Bundock relieved with winner their name magically was etched on the award on the screen.
